Open Call for the Venice Biennale 2018
Στείλτε στο βρετανικό Project Compass σύντομα εικονογραφημένα άρθρα στα αγγλικά σχετικά με τις εμπειρίες σας από αρχιτεκτονικούς διαγωνισμούς και θα παρουσιαστούν στην Μπιενάλε της Βενετίας το 2018. Κάντε κριτική, δείξτε τί συμβαίνει στην Ελλάδα, σχολιάστε την νομοθεσία ή και την κριτική επιτροπή αρχιτεκτονικών διαγωνισμών ή δώστε έμφαση στο γεγονός ό,τι τίποτα σχεδόν δεν χτίζεται ή χτίζεται χωρίς να γίνεται ανάθεση στον αρχιτέκτονα του Α’ βραβείου!

Αυτή η Ανοιχτή Πρόσκληση αποτελεί μέρος ενός project που στοχεύει στη βελτίωση των αρχιτεκτονικών διαγωνισμών αξιολογώντας συγκριτικά διαδικασίες και αποτελέσματα σε όλη την Ευρώπη ώστε να αντιμετωπιστούν τα ζητήματα που προκύπτουν αλλά και να βρεθούν οι καλύτερες πρακτικές για τη βελτίωσή τους. Αποτελεί μέρος του κοινού ευρωπαϊκού προγράμματος Competition Culture in Europe από το Project Compass, το Architectuur Lokaal και το περιοδικό A10 New Architecture Co-operative και θα παρουσιαστεί στο Palazzo Widmann στην φετινή 16η Μπιενάλε Αρχιτεκτονικής της Βενετίας στις 24 Μαΐου του 2018. Τα αποτελέσματα θα είναι επίσης διαθέσιμα σε όλη την Ευρώπη στο thefulcrum.eu.
Αυτή η πρωτοβουλία αποτελεί μια ευκαιρία να μοιραστείτε και να σχολιάσετε τις δικές σας εμπειρίες στην Ευρώπη και αλλού. Τα άρθρα θα αποτελέσουν τμήμα μιας ευρωπαϊκής συγκριτικής μελέτης.
Λεπτομέρεις Υποβολής – Απαιτήσεις
- 400-1000 λέξεις
- Min. 2 – Max 6 εικόνες. Κατόψεις, τομές, τρισδιάστατα.
- Θεματικές περιοχές:
- Εμπειρίες από αρχιτέκτονες που έχουν κερδίσει Αρχιτεκτονικούς Διαγωνισμούς στο εξωτερικό, για να κατανοήσουμε καλύτερα τις συνθήκες που ισχύουν αφού κάποιος κερδίσει έναν διαγωνισμό σε άλλη χώρα (κέρδη, οφέλη, πλεονεκτήματα & μειονεκτήματα, εμπόδια).
- Κριτικός προβληματισμός και σκέψεις των αρχιτεκτόνων πάνω σε σημαντικά θέματα των αρχιτεκτονικών διαγωνισμών, όπως οι πρακτικές-διαδικασίες και τα αποτελέσματα. Για παράδειγμα, οι αρχιτέκτονες εξακολουθούν να συμμετέχουν συνειδητά και πολύ συχνά σε “κακούς” διαγωνισμούς, που προκηρύσσονται λανθασμένα ή στους οποίους οι κριτές δεν διαβάζουν καν τους κανόνες ή σε άλλους που τελικά οι αγωνοθέτες δεν τιμούν τα αποτελέσματα.
- Συλλογή δεδομένων που συμβάλλουν σε παρανοήσεις ή και προκαταλήψεις σχετικά με τους αρχιτεκτονικούς διαγωνισμούς, με πιο σύνηθες το γεγονός ότι όλα τα προβλήματα προκύπτουν εξαιτίας των κανονισμών και της νομοθεσίας.
- Συλλογή δεδομένων για τον τρόπο με τον οποίο, σε κάθε χώρα, οι ευρωπαϊκοί, εθνικοί και τοπικοί νόμοι και κανονισμοί διαμορφώνονται, σταθμίζονται και προσαρμόζονται αναφορικά με τους αρχιτεκτονικούς διαγωνισμούς έτσι ώστε να αντλήσουμε πληροφορίες για τα οφέλη και τα μειονεκτήματα των διαφορετικών εθνικών πρακτικών.

Short illustrated articles on your experiences of architectural competitions in Europe are invited for the Venice Biennale 2018.
This Open Call is part of a project that aims to improve architectural competitions and design contests by appraising comparative performances, procedures and outputs across Europe to identify issues and best practices, for their improvement and reform. It is part of the joint European programme on Competition Culture in Europe by Project Compass, Architectuur Lokaal and A10 New Architecture Co-operative to be presented in the Italian pavilion, Palazzo Widmann at Venice Biennale in May 2018. Outputs will also be available across Europe on thefulcrum.eu.

SUBMISSION DETAILS & REQUIREMENTS:
Word length:
- 400 -1000 words
- Not including the basic details set out below and any references.
Images:
- Min. 2 – Max 6 images. Plans & sections are particularly welcome. Please ensure and confirm the images are licenced creative commons use.
Subject Areas:
- Experiences collected from architects who have won Design Contests* abroad, to better understand the conditions that apply after a specific competition win in another country, including the benefits and obstacles.
- Critical reflection by architects on substantive competition issues including their practices and outputs. For example architects are still consciously and frequently participating in bad competitions, it is not self-evident that jurors read the rules first and clients are failing to honour results.
- Collecting data that contributes to misunderstandings and preconceptions in competition culture, including the commonly held beliefs that all problems arise from regulations.
- Collecting data into how, in each country, European, national and local laws and regulations are arranged, weighted and customised in competitions so as to provide insights on the benefits and disadvantages of the varied national applications.

* Design Contest means a procedures, in architecture, engineering, planning, or data
processing, that provides for selection of a plan or design by a jury of which at least a third have professional qualifications in the subject being assessed. Anonymity is observed until the jury has reached its opinion or decision. The requirements, which apply equally across Europe, are described fully (Chapter 3 Section 8) from HERE.
